Hematology/Oncology Core Curriculum Lectures
 
Rauch Conference Room, 15103 Morris Building -- Duke Clinic (Duke South), Mondays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

The formal training of fellows is structured around a didactic lecture series and a formal curriculum, presented at a luncheon conference each Monday morning. The conference is designed to instruct fellows in the basic science and clinical principles that constitute the basis of hematology and oncology.
 
Hematology/Oncology Grand Rounds
 
143 Jones Building, Wednesdays, 7:30 – 9 a.m.
 
Each Wednesday morning the Divisions of Hematology, Medical Oncology, and Cell Therapy assemble to discuss interesting recent cases seen at the Duke University Medical Center and the Durham VA Medical Center. Case histories are presented, followed by 10 - 15 minutes of discussion and literature review prepared by a fellow, resident, or staff member. Fellows' presentations are formally reviewed. The second part of the conference is devoted to an extended case discussion, or research seminar.
 
Multidisciplinary Pathology Conferences
 
Fellows are required to attend and participate in at least one multidisciplinary pathology conference each month during the course of the fellowship. These conferences are listed below.

This conference is required for the resident and fellows on the Duke Hematology Consult and Outpatient rotations.

Durham VA Medical Center Hematology/Oncology Clinic, 12 p.m., Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays      
                 
Bone Marrow Transplant Grand Rounds.
BMT Conference Room (North Pavilion) / 001 MSRB, Tuesdays 12 p.m.
This meeting alternates location weekly-per topic e-mail announcement.
 
VAMC GI Oncology Multimodality Conference.
Room F3199, Third Floor, F-wing, Laboratory, Tuesdays, 4 p.m.
Required for the fellow and resident on the VA Hematology-Oncology Consult Service. Fellows are encouraged to present cases. Radiology and pathology will be reviewed. Treatment plans and evidence supporting those treatment plans will be discussed.
 
Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology Program (TOP)
Room 1515 Duke University Hospital (Duke North), Wednesdays, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
 
Multidisciplinary Sarcoma Conference
15103 Rauch Conference Room, Morris Building/Room 3084, Green Zone, Third Floor. This meeting alternates location weekly, Thursdays, 8 - 9 a.m.

VAMC General Oncology Conference
Room F3199, Third Floor, F-wing, Thursdays, 4 p.m.
Required for the fellow and resident on the VA Hematology-Oncology Consult Service.  The fellow selects cases for presentation and discussion among Hematology-Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Pathology staff. Neurosurgery attends periodically and brings cases. The fellow must submit list to pathology room F 3205 by noon the day before the conference.
 
VAMC Thoracic Oncology Conference
Room F3199, Third Floor, F-wing, Laboratory, Thursdays, 4:30 p.m.
Required for the fellow and resident on the VA Hematology-Oncology Consult Service.  The fellow selects cases of thoracic malignancy or suspected malignancy for presentation and discussion among Hematology-Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Pulmonary staff.
The fellow must provide cases to Meg McCormick (PA in pulmonary) by Wednesday noon.
 
Hematological Malignancy Grand Rounds
15103 Rauch Conference Room, Morris Building, Fridays, 9:15 – 10:15 a.m.
This is an interactive conference on hematologic malignancies, centered on patient cases. Each conference begins with data that addresses an issue from the proceeding conference. Then two cases are presented, with discussion of the major decision points, and the citation of appropriate data.

GI Oncology Tumor Board
Rundles Conference Room, 3830 Red Zone, First Friday of each month, 1 - 2 p.m.
Informal lectures and discussion of various topics in GI oncology. Fellows may bring case to discuss. Lunch is served.
